Enrollment

Each Spring, SED has an open community registration period which lasts approximately 3 weeks. Please note, that registration does not guarantee a spot in the program.

The demand for childcare typically surpasses our capacity limits. All currently enrolled families are guaranteed their schedule for as long as they need care. We will first reach out to enrolled families to confirm their registration for the next year. Some families choose to drop days or withdraw from the program, some move out of town, and some children graduate. This opens up spots in the program.

Once the number of available spots has been determined, they will be offered to current waitlisted families, in the order they appear on the waitlist.

After reaching out to currently enrolled and waitlisted families, we will have an idea if there are additional spots available at each location, or if the community will be enrolling to a waitlist by site. This will be communicated when we open the community enrollment period in early April.

To register for SED, please follow these steps:

Step 1 – Please sign up for our Newsletters (link to Constant Contact email form) to ensure you receive important information about our registration process, which will be sent in late winter/early spring. Please set your spam filter to allow our messages to get to your inbox and be sure to open and read them carefully, so you don’t miss out on important information.

Step 2 – During the open enrollment window, complete the registration form to provide your family information and requested days of before and/or after school child care and submit it by the registration deadline. Note that these registration submissions are not time-stamped. As long as you submit your form by the registration deadline, you will be considered for enrollment.

Once the registration window closes, all registrations will be separated by location and put into a lottery to determine the order in which placement offers will be made (if space is available), or to determine placement on the waitlist if the program you requested is full. Families will be notified before the end of the school year if they have secured a spot in SED, or if they have been placed on a waitlist. Because we often have a waitlist each year, we recommend you register for SED, but also look into alternative care arrangements in case you are placed on the waitlist.
